I had a rash on my face and the Dr prescribed me hydrocortisone cream?

i have a rash from soap again so i asked my dad to go to the chemist yesterday and he came home with canesten hydrocortisone cream which also contains clotrimazole. is this ok to use?|||The cream you need is a hydrocortisone 0.1% as anything else on your face would be too strong. The pharmacist needs to know what part of your body you are using the cream on. Canesten isn%26#039;t suitable for the face.|||Try not to use hydrocortisone cream on your face too often. The stuff your doc prescribed will only be 0.1% but it is still a steroid cream and not good for long term use on delicate skin. I don%26#039;t ever use soap on my face, just a clean flannel and warm water, then a moisturiser. Avoid soap if you know it irritates your skin.|||Yes it will be fine. Just remember to use as little as possible and to stop using it as soon as your rash disappears.|||I would suggest that you see your GP about this. But you must remember that soap on the face is a big no no......get some proper facial wash for sensitive skin. This should stop you getting a rash, as i suspect that you are sensitive to soap on your face, as most people are.|||Some ingredient in your soap is causing allergy, hence dont use it. Hydrocortisone is %26quot;steroid%26quot; and is bound to cure you of your allergy. But remember prolonged and extensive use of steroids is harmful.Cause, it is absorbed in the body and has terrible and dangerous side effects. Steroids are only prescribed, when the situation is life threatening.Steroids are responsible for suppressing the body%26#039;s immune system.Hence judicious use of such drugs should be made.|||Hydrocortisone is ok for use on the face for very short periods of time, or to clear a %26#039;one off%26#039; infection. Over longer periods it can cause thinning of the skin, which is worse on the face when the skin is already more delicate. it contains steroids that can be damaging when used for prolonged periods. If the rash continues, you may need to see a dermatologist for further investigation. In the meantime it is better to use unperfumed soaps, which are more natural, to see how you get on.|||its very good on zits and cold sores so it should do the trick|||Canestan HC should not routinely be used on your face. It may produce local allergy and irritation. It should only be used topically on fungal infections.|||yes thats fine to use but use as directed onthe packaging|||Canesten cream is not for rashes but for fungal infections,eg,thrush, athletes foot.

Not the same thing at all, sorry.|||Yeah! its fine...it should work quick too....

besides, the doc prescribed it for you...and they%26#039;re not often wrong!

Hope it clears up soon...and have a happy new year too!|||Alot of people become allergic to the perfume in soap,i did,so i%26#039;d recommend you stop using your usuall soap and perhaps try Simple soap instead, see how you go.I%26#039;ve used it for years.Hydrocortisone is very good for eczema and dermatitis.Buut it%26#039;s recommended you use it for 7 days max,as it can thin your skin.|||Remember that Canestan is for thrush, the main ingrediant probably wouldn%26#039;t harm your skin and the hydrocortisone would help, but the levels of hydrocortisone would most likely be reduced from the amount the doctor prescribed. If you%26#039;re sure it%26#039;s the soap that%26#039;s causing the rash, try doing what I do, I buy baby wipes and use them on my face, I never use soap on my face. They work a treat.
