Is hydrocortisone cream safe for pregnant dogs?

I am watching a pregnant french bulldog for a friend and she is itching her vaginal area so much so that it%26#039;s getting red and inflammed.|||It is probably normal swelling and attention to the area. Hydrocortisone cream will not fix it. Dogs do swell during pregnancy, especially toward the end of the term.

It is safe for pregnancy either externally or internally (as in cortisone pills), but it won%26#039;t help your problem. Cortico steroids are safe in therapeutic amounts because they are naturally produced by mammal%26#039;s own bodies. It%26#039;s just when they are abused that they can do damage.|||No. While it%26#039;s tempting to want to fix the problem, you will just create another one - she%26#039;ll just lick the cream and get it into her system.

You should definitely speak to the owner about the situation - but inflammation within reason is not unexpected, as a pregnant dog has instincts that will tell her to keep the area extra clean, and in addition, her circulation is higher than that of a non-pregnant dog.

Just make sure she is in a quite, safe, non-stressful environment, and watch her closely for signs of anxiety or discomfort if she is anywhere near her due date - and make sure you know where her vet is, so you can get her there in a hurry!

I%26#039;m sure she%26#039;s fine - a lot of things look different in pregnant animal, and even if%26#039;s it%26#039;s something minor, it%26#039;s best not to fix it.|||no could cause a yeast infection.take her to the vet n make your friend pay you back or call your friend n ask them about it.
